anyone here make backups of their console video games? for ps2 or xbox? I'm on a mac and have read that Toast will copy ps2 games, but xbox seems a little tricker.
I just picked up a ps2 and thought I would give it a shot. I didn't see a forum for it and so I posted here. I'm gonna try vice city and battlefront this week.

I've used dvddecrypter. Iso read, then iso write. Need a mod chip to run them though. The other thing is I don't know if decrypter works on mac?

  5. well, if you searched the forums, you'd have your answer, everything well detailed. As a matter of fact, only a ps2 game dvd disk can be directly backed up on a PC.

Dunno about on a Mac, I suppose it possible. Why don't you try it?

I wrote some really useful mac tutorials for ps2 and xbox
    click to go over here

To get ps2 games to work you are going to have to get one of the 3
    a.) modchip
b.) HDloader with network adaptor and harddrive
c.) some boot disks and a flip top/slidecard/ or no solder mod

For the xbox games to work you are going to have to get one of the 3
    a.) modchip
    b.) TSOP Flash
    c.) exploit loaded (ex Ltools)

I wonder if the only thing that the modchip overrides is the book type of the DVD-\+R? It seems to be the only thing manufacturers are hesitant about allowing users to change. Many people have found that older DVD Players run DVD-\+R just fine after the change. And there's alot of people that have trouble running burned DVDs on PS2 and other systems. Just a thought. I've only got a Gamecube, afterall!

Nope. It's in the DVD drive. Same disks play in mine as before, and those that wouldnt still dont. Also all the modded dvd player apps I have seen suck bigtime....

yup, it was intentionally written to look like bad blocks so the burner and software automatically correct it. and thats where the mod chip comes it, makes it so the ps2 doesnt look for those blocks. 8)

  11. Xbox games are in Xfat format & windows doesn't recognize that. I'm sure Gates planned it that way.

first of all know that once yo open your console your warranty is void and you are have a risk to f-up every thing ..with that out the way for any console you need a chip ( ps2 , x-box ) I belived I used Alcochol 120 for ps2 games ( I am not sure how they worked because I never had a ps console)

I decided to go with the more powerful x-box ( I did turn it into a network computer ) and as far as that goes you can install a bigger harddrive and back up your games staight into the console no need to burn into disk...

there are videos on how they do this I belive they have it in the broken.org on how to do this ( both for ps2 and xbox) for xbox info go to xboxscene.com

    good luck and haapy modding

Also, now you can save games to the ps2 if you have a HD and a network adaptor and you dont have to mod it to make it happen you just buy the HDloader/HDadvanced (or whatever its called now)disk.

Also with the ps2 your warranty is void after 90 days and the xbox if I am not mistaken you have to send the card in and you have to do it within a month or so of purchase and the warranty is also 90 days .

Now the xbox can be modded to do everything that a chip can do without opening it up or soldering anything with a memory card save but you have to open it up and use the appropriate software to add a larger HD and connect the drive to a cpu to reinstall the the orignal files from your original drive
