    Hello,

    Happy Thanksgiving day Canada!

It's Columbus Day in the US and I have the day off!!! (being a temp at a bank has its pluses ).

So Canadians, I guess you probably have a lot of the same traditions we have in the US. Do you eat turkey, watch football (CFL in your case), have relatives over, eat too much, than call it a day?????

    Thanks.

Yup, we do all that ...and maybe even have a few.

And happy Columbus Day to you!

Blah. Only the banks are closed. So it's more of a pain than a holiday.

  4. Hey!!! What the hell ??? You mean the Pilgrims landed in Canada !!!???? If that were true, this continent would never have been settled as the Pilgrims would have turned around and gone back home.

It's Columbus day here in the US. Damn good thing he didn't land in Canada !!!

Columbus never 'discovered' anything either -- how can you discover something that was already discovered...

plus he was mixed up where he was anyway ..

makes sense to name a day after someone that was lost, and only real dubious distinction is bringing smallpox to a native population and wiping them out (not that certain other countrys followed that tradition wholeheartly)

It's ridiculous that it's still a holiday. Like BJ_M said, he wasn't event he first to discover America, and in fact didn't even discover it at all. He discovered Hispaniola, IMS.

We have many things to be thankful for here in the US, but mainly we're all thankful we're not from Canada
