  3. Any good? What advantages does it actually offer? IE in XP SP2 offers popup blocking etc.

It just rules. SP2 closes alot of the gap. But the truth is the things in SP2s IE have been in Firefox for a long time. Plus tabbed browsing is good.

  5. I will give it a shot when I get five minutes. I take it that it is easy to uninstall if I don't like it.

  14. I am now using Thunderbird as my e-mail client. I've always used Webmail before this, so it will take a bit of getting used to.

Yeah, I use a pop email as my primary personal account. And my gmail as a place for mailing list and contact with businesses online.

Since my pop email is on my own server and never just given out over the web its very spam free. Kinda nice really.

Whenever FireFox is started it wants to act as a server - so my Firewall alerts me - and I say no !
Anyone know why a browser would want server rights?
    (My paranoid suspicions are triggered).

These days most software does that - and I do turn it off, but none have asked to be a server, I find it strange - I think I'll do some more investigation.

How about compliancy with standards? Its updated frequently. IE hasn't been updated in more than three years.

Well yeah it technically has, XP SP2 is a major update to it. Firefox is still better.
