  1. I currently have a plextor 12x I bopught about 3 months ago, and now I'm noticing dual layer burners coming out for almost half the price.
My question is, should I return the plextor, save $100 and pick up, say, the Pioneer dual layer 108? I bought the Plextor based on great reviews, but I think the Pioneer is almost as good, and half the price.

I would..... or wait until after xmas and buy another drive for even less ... I can't hurt having two -- one single and one dual.

  3. I really only use it to backup movies, and not even that many. I'd just like the option to do a full backup without compression in the future, when the DL disks get more affordable

Plextor will be releasing their first DL 16x burner in a few weeks. Maybe you can return the 712 and purchase the 716 when it's released. I know I'll be purchasing a 716A!
