im thinking about buying this capture card.
its $50, has the conexant 23883, and stereo sound

i have a few questions and im new to vid cap, any help on these questions is appreciated, thanks.

1) im worried about this card not being compatable with beyond tv3 does anyone have any experience with this? (the manufacturers websites do not mention compatability).

2) can anyone recommend a better vid cap card for this price range?

3) will ati's new theater 550 chip be available soon, or at this price? any idea if it will much better than the conexant 23883?

4) will i be able to capture smooth DVDquality videos with this card?
my system is:

Athlon 64 3000
soltek socket 754 nf3 board
1 GB PC3200
9800 pro
audigy 2
36GB 8MB 10000 SATA Raptor Drive for OS
80GB 8MB 7200 SATA drive for vid cap
NEC ND3500A 16x dual layer DVR

5) will i be able to capture directly to DVDR?

6) how much will my system slow down when capturing at DVD quality? will i still be able to do other tasks like play music or videos? or will this affect the capture too much?

You need to read the "What Is" section in the upper left. Then the "Guides" below it in the "How To" section.

Familiarize yourself with the basics before you post here asking such basic stuff that has already been asked, and answered so many times.

Use the forum search too. Remember that the forum rules require that you do some basic research before posting the first time. Your question about capping directly to DVD-R leads me to believe that you didn't do this.

Save yourself a lot of grief and spend some time reading first. It's actually faster than waiting for a reply, and the information is all there. Spend some time researching it.

thanks i have answers to most questions now, i couldnt find an answer to quesion 1 on beyond tv3 though, i tired to search the forums but had no luck.
any help is appreciated
