  1. Uisng an epson r800 printer, I printed on a ritek dvd.

Ink will rub off after a week.

Is this a dvd problem or an epson problem?

    How do others do this?

you sure you used printable media ? I had to ask ..

also -- ANY ink jet printing will wipe off if you get it wet on any dvd blanks ..

  4. I used Ritek matte finish, assumed printable.
Did not get wet, will rub off very eaisly, not really wet, just not fused permenantly.

unless it says its printable -- its not ..

the white printable riteks have a clear finish over the matte finish ..

if you want to check (and waste one for later printing) , wet and then rub a brand new unprinted disk - you will feel it become very slimy and can wash off that clear matte finish pretty easy -- dry it off and not you will have a glossy matte finish that feels a lot smoother...

if they are not printable -- they dont have that coating which is water soluble.

then again - as mentioned -- maybe the ink in that machine is no good ...

i print on 1000's of disks and they all dry pretty quick and are very hard to rub off the printing (except for the water issue if you get them wet)

if you really rub kinda hard -- you can smudge the printing even a week later ... but it takes a bit of rub

  7. I use Ritek printables, never had a problem of ink not drying. I use a Lexmark that has been modding to print disks and an Epson R200.

If you print a normal gloss top disk the ink will take along time to dry, then you can just wipe it back off with your finger or tissue or about anything else, not even have to get it wet. I have done that for testing my Lexmark mod for alignment several times. It just turns to kinda dry dusty powder barley stuck to the disk.

Does that sound like what you had?
