  1. Both the SW Trilogy and the Star Wars Battlefront games came out today and I went and purchased both. I, however, being a man of restraint, refused to purchase the sound track. I had to draw the line somwhere right?

I am glad to report that Star Wars has never looked this good. I know there is this raging debate about the changes. However, that aside I cannot believe the freaking detail in things like textures and color. It is that freaking good. The sound is great. I would encourage everyone who is a SW fan to run out and get this freaking set.

I also purchased SW Battlefront. I only played about 15 minutes but the game so far is fun. At any rate fellas, I have a lot of entertainment minutes planned out for the stuff I bought. Talk to you later.

Yeah I agree about the SW trilogy and it is a work of art,and I frankly can't see what all the fuss is about.

  3. Steeldog,

If you have a Surround Sound Setup, you may want to check ANH. The music is mixed incorrectly in the rear speakers. It is flipped so that what is playing in the front left is also playing in the right rear instead of the left rear like it was supposed to. For more information, check out

  4. I am totaly "bent" on the ORIGINAL versions of these movies.

But, I did sit down and watch ESB and was pleasently suprised. Like stated above... it's so freaken clear and colorfull. MAN! I've never seen it so great. There are numerous changes 90% stay with the flow and help move the story along. I was not totaly sold on just one part. When Vader talkes to the eperor. He looked way better but the changed dialog was not quite right.

The sound seems beefed up in a couple of spots to make the dialog easier to understand.

Hate to say it but I would rather watch this than the LD version I made.

    Hello,

    See this thread:

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=238308

I will play the xbox demo on the 4th disc and decide if I will buy Battlefront.

Excellent remix for the movies. Worth every penny.

  7. Funny thing is after all the hype of how Lucas wanted to clear up the picture... I can still see the matt work on the space ships and oddly enough during the Saber battle on the platform in ESB at the very end before Luke loses his hand.

That has been covered on the official site. The change in Mix was intentional according to the official site. The quote stated "We are always impressed with how closely fans listen to the many different sound mixes we have made for the Star Wars movies over the years. It is flattering to know that, indeed, the audience is listening. Consequently, each mix comes out differently and any changes that you hear on the all-new Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX tracks on the Star Wars Trilogy DVD set are deliberate creative decisions. We can confirm that there are no technical glitches as has been reported."

  10. Like they would realy say "yeah, we screwed up... but buy the disks anyway"

I'm about half way through ROJ.

Can someone tell me the logic of changing the line Han uses when hanging over the Sarlack.

    Original: "It's alright, trust me"

New version: "I can see better now"

Why go to all the trouble? I just don't get it.

  12. Han's line was changed in the '97 SE's. Luke's line in ESB was also changed from, "You're lucky you don't taste very good." to "You were lucky to get out of there." in the '97 SE's.

  15. So they are based on the '97 cuts? Like someone else mentioned, I still prefer the originals. Got 4 sets of those: CBS-Fox LD's (1984, analog sound); 20th-Fox LD (~1990, digital sound); CED (rarer stereo discs) and CBS-Fox Beta (hi-fi). The DS LD's were tranferred to R using a borrowed DVD recorder. But I'm off to rent the new set to see if it's worth buying.

  17. Finished ROJ.

I like the new songs. Jabba's Palace and the end song. I can still see the matting. Ending is acceptable with Haden.

Overall I'm good with it. I would rather watch this than my LD conversion.

    Next up. ANH. o'boy.

  19. I wasn't watching when I put them on my neflix list. I listed them backwards.

    D,oh!

I wanted to watch them before I purchase. I wasn't too sure I would be sold on all the changes. So far so good.

Does anyone know the name of the Star Wars game that was based on the Age of Empires game engine? I remember reading a review ages ago, but I can't find it anywhere.

Also, has anyone played it? Is it any good? ( I love Age of Empires ).

Those aren't new. They were added in '97. You must have missed them

--sorry that was bugging me and had to dig up this thread, needed to clarify that was already changed in the first special edition not new to the dvds--
