  1. Hi guys, I have a DivX file that I would like to convert to DVD. However, when I first encoded the file, it had no audio. When I used VDub to check the file, I get a message about the audio before VDub launches the file.

I have attached a screenshot of the message so you guys can look to see what it suggests (you should be able to see it above). I tried to modify the file by doing a direct stream copy on the video and full processing mode on the audio (I know virtually nothing about how to fix audio), but the resulting file had out of sync audio.

If it helps, I have the following audio info from GSpot:

    Name - 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
    Bitrate - 120 kb/s (60/ch x 2 ch) VBR
    Fs - 48000 Hz

How do I go about fixing this problem, I have a bit of an idea of how to extract the audio as a wav, as VDub suggests, but conversion of audio and reInterleaving (is that a word? ) the audio and video is a bit of a mystery to me.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Yours,
    Beev

extract it as a wav and put the wav on the dvd (as pcm) or encode the wav to ac3 and load it on the dvd ..

no , you will have re-encoded the avi to mpeg2 anyway

  5. So what happens to the Audio that is Interleaved into the video? Does the Wav just overwrite that?

Nothing. The encoder takes the avi as the video source and the wav as the audio source to create the mpeg. The original files are untouched.

  7. Thanks for the info, I actually meant the audio on the encode, I thought that if you had separate audio, then you had to have no audio on the video.

I thought it would be taking the audio from the avi as well as the wav.

    wav file is audio ..

the dvd authoring program does the multiplexing of the mpeg2 and the audio (ac3 or pcm/wav) , you dont do that before (normally)

  9. Right, I thought there may have been confusion between the audio contained in the avi and the separate wav file.

Ill try it and let you know how I get along.
