  1. Just trying to backup my first DVD and have run into a problem with all ripping tools I have tried. I complains that there is no ASPI layer present, then when I continue the rip, nothing is created (obviously).

I have tried SmartRipper and a couple of other tools.

Is this something peculiar to WinXP? How should I go about getting around this probelm. I had a bit of a look around the forum's and downloads section but couldn't find anything obvious.

    Thanks.

Search for a program called ForceASPI.
Install it and it should be fine now.

ForceASPI is a program that will install ASPI layers even if you don't have an Adaptec product installed.
