  1. A couple weeks ago I purchased a few Memorex spindles and the media codes were both Prodisc03 and RitekG04. I know there is some debate on which is better, but really, which is better?

I'd like to run a generalized scan to see if there are any errors on them, but the last time I checked (if I remember correctly.. last year), I couldn't because my drive (Pioneer 106, upgraded firmware) was never recognizable with most software.

I have about 25 movies that I really would like to back up, and my TY spindle stack is limited for now, therefore, I need to resort to the other media.

    Any advice would be great!

    Thanks.

  2. i think its a matter of opinion. Lord smurf likes prodiscs better and he's quit the expert. However for me, prodiscs only work on my xbox and one dvd player (philips dvp642), they don't work in my daewoo 5800.

riteks work in all 3 of 'em. I've bought about 400 ritek discs in the last year, one spindle i ordered from the US was really wierd, it would freeze when trying to start a 4x burn, never coastered the disc, just froze. So i had to go through that who spindle at 2x. but the spindles i've gotten since are fine.

I love TY's, but there so expensive. So i'll put my vote in for riteks. But you gotta realize its all subjective and we'll all give you different answers. It all depends on the burner you use and what you playing them on.

buy some of each and give 'em a shot

RITEKG04 have proven very unreliable in the past 11-12 months (unstable coaster count), and the organic dyes do not have as good a reflectivity as the AZO materials (best seen when you try to FF faster than 2x in a player).

  4. Thanks for the replies.

IS there a program that will allow me to check my dvd-r's? I really want to see if I have any errors on them. Like I said, I have a Pioneer 106 burner.

    Thanks for any help!
