im getting extremely worried about my jvc dvd recorder
im using ritek go4 -r x4 discs
based on the 'two hour selection', it has spit out by 10 of my 12 discs so far but somewhat mysteriously after circa 18 mins or so.......!
JVC helpdesk in uk dont seem sure but predicatbly told me to use jvc -r video dvds (and not 'data -r dvds which they said are different)
The shop where i bought it took it back and burnt a disc using one of my riteks for circa one hour!! - they looked at me as if i was making it up!
is it me, the machine my media or what else??
any help/thoughts at all would be appreciated.

Media.
Tell the JVC helpdesk they're morons.
Use any good media. There's no such thing as a data DVD-R or video DVD-R.
Try PRODISC, MCC, TY, MXL, TDK, ... something good.

Lordsmurf is correct, I would try what he said first. That happened to me and I found out that the JVC laser had malfunctioned. I had to take it in for service.
Try a good brand of disk first, if it still doesn't work take the unit in for service.Do unto others....with a vengeance! -
You can also try using a dvd lens cleaner ,that hgappened once with my panasonic e-80h I cleaned the laser then it worked .

So, do not say "More JVC problems....", just let say: "More user created problems"

Most people like us who are using dvd recorders are actually pioneering the way for others. We are beta testing equipment that in the near future will be more polished hopefully somewhat flawless.Do unto others....with a vengeance! -
my JVC DR-M10 accepts even the Princo DVD-R (1-4x) and they play back nicely on other players
however, my Panasonic DMR E50 does not like Princo, it either refuses at the start or stops recording after a while .... so I only use Maxell or TDK for the Panasonic ; on the JVC I use the Princo only for material that is less important for storage
