    the video file i have uses an ogg extension (yess, ogg, not ogm); it plays perfectly via media player because i have the proper codec. however, i cannot load it in tmpgenc; when i try to, i immediately receive an error which obliges me to shut down tmpgenc.

    Try moving the DirectShow reader to the top of the VFAPI list.
