  1. CDR duplicators are rather expensive when u look and see 1cdr and 3 cdrw and the price 3x cost. Can we add 3 CDRWs to the PC and is there a software that can allow us to simultaneously cut 3 copies? How does a duplicating machine work? Looks like a PC with power supply and cdr cdrws. Many thanks for the help. :&gt

  2. Yes it is possible to setup your own duplicator with as many cd writers as your case can handle. For the software nero can burn to multiple burners i am pretty sure. Most people dont do this though because they only require one copy of anything but if you need multiple copies then it is a good idea

If you had the knowledge to, you could build yourself a dedicated CD duplicating tower, just like the ones that you buy. Linux could be tailored for a system such as this, but would require some hardcore UNIX knowledge to pull it off, it would make a good project for someone. You could get away with a minimal system, using the cheapest harware that you can buy.

  4. Thanks pacmania, with my home videos, I would like to give copies to my parents etc... I will buy another similiar cdrw to my present (Yamaha 201040 packaged with Nero 5.5) and see whether Nero can write both simultaneously.

Thanks d4n13l, I have no knowledge of Linux whatsoever, have win2000 setup so I will try pacmania's suggestion and see how it goes. Just looking at the duplicators on sale, it looks fairly straightforward like you put the original in the cdr and put the blanks in the duplicator press the button and it is done. Is there a hardware thing like the one switch to output from one video to many..??? :&gt

  5. Do you mean like a switch that can turn one burner off. I think that you would just not put a disc in the burner you didnt want to use.

  6. I'm thinking of those network router/switch that I see being used in classrooms where the course conducter uses to allow every monitor to see what he has on his screen. Like a video splitter. I wonder whether there is an equivalent for carrying data from one source to out to many.

I'm still considering buying another cdrw but will only do so in a few weeks time. Will let you know if it works.

  7. Try Padus DiscJuggler. It will burn to multiple identical drives. Works with IDE or scsi, but recommends against burning faster than 4x on IDE.

  8. Thanks, I'll give the demo a go but seems to require scsi nevertheless I'll try with my ide cdrw

    WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in 8th grade, i had to listen to a 10 minute lector about the dangers of burning via Eathernet.

The tech at school said that if the network slowed or hickupped, the cd would die.

    Why don't u purchase two 24x CD-RW's and replace ur cd-rom

  11. my nero 5.5.1.8 does not indicate possibility of multiple burn but I will be trying padus discjuggler and ya.. buy 2 new aopen cdrws.. maybe 2 weeks time.
    Q. Should I get ide or the expensive scsi?? Actually the padus software and the scsi cdrws will not be worth buying as the total would be close to a duplicator.

May scout around then for a cheap duplicator.

  13. You may want to take a look at http://www.caloptic.com. You can build a standalone duplicator with 1 reader and up to 7 writers. They also have controllers to build a standalone DVD duplicator with up to 3 writers (Pioneer Ao3's).

  15. the caloptic site is good, on teh software page there are other cdrw sw like cdrwin (does this allow multiple cdrws? ), prassieurope clicknburn, padus discjuggler. I would consider the caloptic 1 to 7 controller when the diy page at caloptic is ready. Does Nero 5.5.5.1 allow multiple cdrw cutting?
