  1. I just bought a Sony computer PCV-RX-580 with a Pioneer dvd-recordable-rewritable drive----I have been surfing this sight for a couple of weeks now and the more I read the more confused I get.....All I want to do at this point is capture my home movies from a Sony digital camcorder DCR-TRV-310,(NTSC) and transfer them to a DVD+RW disc to play on my Sony dvd player DVP-C670D. What software should I use to capture the video and what software should I use to convert to MPEG2 then what software should I use to burn the MPEG2 video to the DVD+RW disc?? I have Adode Premeire 6 LE, DVDit, MovieShaker, Pico Player, Windows Movie Maker, RecordNow DX installed on the computer. I tried to download TMPGE but it didn't seem to like the XP home version of Windows... Please help get me started, I am very motivated to get this to work...

I do not believe Pioneer makes DVD+RW.

If you have a DVD-RW drive, DVD+RW disks will not work.

This the current problem with DVD Recordable. THeir are two competing standards.

Don't use Windows Movie Maker, that records in a horrible form and u cannot use the output in any mpeg encoder.

  5. I have a TRV120 and encode for SVCD using TMPGE 2.0 on Windows XP Pro. Your procedure should be similiar. I connect the camcorder to my computer through the iLink(Firewire) connection and capture the video using Premiere. Then I encode using TMPGE. You would just use higher bitrate settings. Check out the AUTHOR section on this site.
