  1. I am trying to purn a movie in my new Philips DVD+RW (DVD 8601) I am using the media TDK DVD+R and it is not working It keeps telling me to insert a blank or rewritable DVD 9 (using the software Sonic Record Now) am I usinf the wrong media any hwlp would be great. Thanks in advance.

  2. Could it be that the movie is too big for a normal dvd+r, so you need to burn it on a dvd+r DL (dvd 9)

  3. I am not farmiliar with sonic record now but it sounds like the version you have is not setup to compress the video. Most comercial pressed disks (prerecorded movies) contain more data than will fit on a normal recordable dvd. Dual layer dvds can hold almost twice the information. You have to use a program that can compress the video to reduce its size. Find out for sure if sonic record now can do that. If it cannot you will have to use another program. If you want to try something free, try smart ripper (copies the dvd to your hard drive and removes copyguard if there is any) and then use dvd shrink (compresses the video and burns it to disk).
    Personally I use anydvd (runs in the background and removes copy guard) and nero (can do all kinds of things with cd and dvd including compressing video for dvd and burning) and they work great. That will cost a little over 100$ though.
