  1. Hi everyone,

I'm trying to convert VOB files in MPEG-2 (SVCD) with TMPGEnc. First, I'm using DVD2AVI to extract d2v file and a wav file. Here is the problem!!! At end of process I find the d2v file but not the wav file. Is the someone that can tell what can I do??? and there are other programs that make this files??? I've read that TMPGEnc is the best software (freeware) to convert VOB to SVCD but I've found DVDx very easy. There are difference between this two program in quality or are the same???

    Hi,
Perhaps the prob is in DVD2AVI settings under audio make sure you set for Dolby Digital DECODE not Demux. Demux will output an AC3 not a wav file. TMPGEnc via VFAPI plug in uses the wav audio file.
    Hope it helps

Sorry for slow reply, I have to work for a living! This is just a hobby. For DVD to SVCD look for DVD2SVCD http://212.88.77.140/ , it's the best, easiest interface around. You'll need Cinema Craft Encoder SP 2.50 as well..this is a commercial program (search on Google groups for CCE2.5). Otherwise I have been very succesful with DVD2AVI, TMPGEnc path. Not too sure with DVDx, every time i've had a try it's crashed on me (could just be me also!).
The DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc is a good choice for good SVCD, Just that I think DVD2SVCD offers more passes and better end result. Up to you?

  7. There have been times when I've encountered a DVD with the audio track on 2 with nothing on 1. Once I found it on 5! Keep switching tracks till you find the right one. Just encode for a minute or two (when someone talks) to make sure it's the proper language and not a commentary track.
