  1. Hey,

I have a problem with my Epson R200. Sometimes 1 outta 15 or so DVDs so far, it would take the tray in print about 3/4th of the way and then spit the tray out saying the tray is misaligned, and to refeed the tray and press the paper load button. I did that sevral times but the printer refuses to continue printing, it still displays the message about misalignment. Can anyone help out? Thanks

  2. I had the tray spit out the front and the back on occasions. I have found the solution to be to put the tray in 'beyond' the arrow mark. I align it with the first roller that is visible on the CD/DVD mechanism, although, I have pushed it in farther with no bad effects.
The cause, I don't know...but I think it has to do with reading to registration marks on the tray. If there is slippage of the feed rollers it might not go in far enough to see the first register mark, by pushing it in a little farther, it insures it will see that mark. I haven't had any problems since I have been doing this.
If it works, don't fix it.

  3. A lot of people have experienced this problem. It could be possible that the plastic on your tray is bent. If it is, then you might have to get a new tray. I did manage to convince Epson that the tray was faulty and when I got my new tray it worked perfectly.

  4. Probably the easiest solution is to do the head cleaning. That happened to me a lot at first, and it made me wanna take that printer back to the store. After cleaning it, it worked good.

how do you do the head cleaning?

is that something you can do in software [like a test print] or you have to manually clean it?

  6. this happens to me a lot as well.

basically just a pita - sometimes it works no
problem for a bunch of discs in a row - than
other times it keep spitting the thing out.

i'd have returned the printer, but for $99 bucks -
i'll put up with it, lol.

  7. Head cleaning is done within the software. Just right click on the pinter icon down at the bottom, and select head cleaning.

Get the SSC free utility and you can clean each individual head. Saves ink by only cleaning the needed one. (by running the check nozzel test you know whick one needs it) Also resets counters and much more. Awesome tool.

Head cleaning has nothing to do with the tray slippage. If u look underneath the tray- you can see the track marks (sorta like your skid marks on ur tighty whiteys). I have added a small piece of medical cloth tape( white) and no more slippage as the tape helps as the wheels spin and catch on to the tape attatched to the tray.

Great idea. Where exactly did you put the tape? Can you post pics?

  11. jax if this works you are the man! Can you elaborate on this kind of tape, and perhaps some pics on how to do this? Thanks

  12. I know your busy JAXXBOSS, but how much tape and where..The underside of my tray has more skids than a racetrack. It also slips and I have to push it constantly to initially load it.

  13. Mine was spitting out the tray, then I found that it was bumping into something behind the printer, where the tray comes out the back. After I moved it, it worked fine....

Mine swallows. LOL. Well, no sense in putting pics up because the problem has resurfaced. Still slipping. I thought I had a solution, but alas..tis not to be. I just give it a tap now to start it IF it needs it. As far as going beyond and out the back, well i did indeed solve that. i positioned my printer so that when the tray goes thru and out the back it will hit the wall in it goes too far. then it just goes in reverse like it should.

  16. I guess they're just finicky. For the price, I can't complain (well, not too much)....

  17. Have you tried cleaning the rollers for the feed?

Maybe having a dusty house and living on a dirt road does have advantages? Mine has printed many disks and only rarely spits out the tray so far. Maybe the dust/dirt gives it extra traction

I would try cleaning the rollers well if slipping seams to be the problem.
2 things I don't recomend but work well for me with other printers, 1 use windex or rubbbing alcohaul for cleaning the rollers. Preferably windex.
2, rough the bottom of the try just a little with some fine sand paper. NOT sand it alot, just rub over it lightly to give it some bite.
3, if you can reach the rollers ok, safely, let them spin durring startup/cleaning or what ever methode will run them and just very lighty touch a sand paper to them. Use a mild paper if you try any of this, like maybe 220 grit wet dry.

As I say I don't recomend doing the aboves though it has worked alot for me with other similar type problems in the past. Main reason I don't recomend it is no way to tell what someone will actually do!!
If you use a course 80 grit cheapo paper most likely you will ruin the rollers or get sand particals in the printer. Of course if you go over board and bear down hard on the rollers you'll chew them up too. Lot's of ways various people could ruin something by just being dumb about it.

One of the reasons I don't have the problem yet perhaps is I use mine only for disks normally! If your running papers, and gloss photo would be the worse I think, then you may be cusing the rollers to become slick and that's why they're slipping. A good cleaning shuold fix that. I had that problem with a Lexmark mod I made. I used card stock on the bottom of my tray I made and it caused the rollers to slicken up and start slipping after a few runs. I did get that fixed when I started using other types of trays i made.

  18. I just use and bought it for the dvd printing capabilities for the price. But I have to hover over it when it first starts printing, once it actually starts to print i never have any problems.. I also figured out the back, having it too close to the wall, but that was about 200 prints ago...thanks

Having it too too close to the wall isnt good, but sometimes the tray does go too far back and completely out the back and that's not good either. Once you see yhow far back the tray normaly goes, adjust ur printer position so that the tray will not touch the wall when things are normal, but it will hit the wall if the tray decides to get goofy and shott out the back.

  20. So far I have not had the out the back at all, I have had it spit out the front once or twice instead of taking it in when it first starts. And I know the tray was loaded correctly and the little arrows lined up.
