Not sure about VS7 but im Media Studio Pro you can apply a anti-flickering filter to the entire project or to individual images. Right click on the image after inserting it into the timeline and and seei f you have a media source option, click the reduce flicker option. If it's not there look at the other options to see if it's there. It may also be in your project settings or preferences. If you still can't find it type flicker in the search section of the help dialog box.

I had a similiar problem only it display quality as well. I found a post DVD Authoring forum that stated you should set your project properties to the following to increase picture quality:

    NTSC Drop Frame (29.97 fps)
    Microsoft AVI Files
    24 Bits 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order A
    DV Encoder -- Type 1
DV Audio -- NTSC, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit Stero

This made a big difference in picture quality but there is still a very slight flicker. My Question is what should I set the project properties to if I have both digital photos & video?

The project properties should match your video. VS8 uses those attributes to render the preview. If you use project properties that match your video it will only render the portions that have been changed such as where you edited in transitions which will speed up how fast the preview can be seen.

They have no affect on your final output unless you use them. They can all be changed for final output.
