I bought Audition but ever since, I've noticed less mention of it than CoolEdit. It's interface is nothing like what Adobe users are used to. And CoolEdit users could give a rat's ass about anything else Adobe has to offer.

Audition is CoolEdit PRO with a new splash screen. CoolEdit has (had) a distinctive user interface similar to no other program.

Have yet to find any difference between CoolEdit 1.2 and Audition 1.0.

To me, the fact that Adobe bought CoolEdit from Syntrilium is the best compliment to the author. Hopefully, eventually they will finance some substantial improvements.

Ver 1.5 adds streaming between Audition and more expensive programs. Apparently to get the use out of the less laggy ASIO drivers of those programs but who would spend a ton of money for a program that you're only going to use for this feature? The new version also adds an "official" cd burning interface. Originally CoolEdit users had to get this by way of a somewahat buggy plug-in. That's pretty much it, though. I miss Syntrillium's Red Rover(never got one)but would like to get an interface that even has motorized faders, if at all possible. I'm sure it's within Adobe's means.

  4. I think that Syntrillium made a mistake selling CEP. Adobe are a "pictures" company. People looking for audio editing software won't go near them. However it will give Pro Tools and Soundforge a chance.

  5. It's the same exact app. Audtion 1.5 is basicallt CEP 2.2

Aside from a name change, new splash screen and a few fixes they didn't ruin it yet.

  6. There are a few changes. The multi track edit mode is a bit different. They also changed some of the shortcut commands which I HATE I liked the way it was before. So yea Adobe has already started to ruin it. I went back to CoolEdit Pro after tryout out Audition. Screw Adobe I will not support them for audio applications.
