There are only two references to this error message in the Ulead web boards. Only one offers a possible solution. They suggest turning off 3:2 inverse pulldown to fix this issue.
I don't use the product, so I don't know if this will work.Read my blog here.

Do you have chapter points beyond 83% or so of your 23,976 fps with 3:2 pulldown video? If so, remove them and try again. It might help.
You might also try this patch from Ulead: http://support.ulead.com/kb/0038/KB1354.htm -
i have no chapters at all,ive put seven 30min videos with motion menu it is 9.6gb in size i then want to shrink it with dvd shrink then burn it to dvdr, but i cant get past 89% of video&multiplexing wihout an error

That's kinda big, even if you plan on shrinking it, as I sometimes do, too. Have you intalled the latest update? Might be worth a shot, too.

Ulead Movie Factory by default converts each separate program into an MPG2 in its working folder first: Ulead Work\Convert. Then it assembles the image of the DVD in the Ulead Work directory.
If you don't have enough disk space to accomodate this you can get the error messages as it ends up making multiple copies of the same material as it progresses through the job.
Also I don't think Ulead deletes the working files once you have your DVD. Thus a lot of material buillds up.
Thus I use it as an MPG2 converter, collect the MPG2 files and rename them to what I want then move them to a 160G hard drive and assemble them into DVD's when I want to. -
i using ulead dvd workshop not Ulead Movie Factory,i have enough space on my hard drive as ive done this process before without error,i also converted the avi files to dvd format using mainconcept mpeg converter to speed up the process,im downloading a patch at the moment so ill let everyone no if i was sucessful or not, fingers crossed ,by the way wonder if i reinstalled the program would that help mmmmmm

I have several of the different Ulead programs, they all locate in a similar position unless you alter this.
Just check that your hard drive is not filling up with working files that are not being deleted.
Good luck -
Gurus, correct me if I am wrong but there is a limit to the number of 1 gig vobs that can exist in one titleset (0 to 9). With the size of your file you may be exceeding the limit. DVD WS has a built-in encoder. You can enable advanced encoding options. Go to c:/documents and settings/all users/ulead/dvd workshop/your version number and open this file. Type the line advance=1 under viodrivers and then click to save. When you restart dvd workshop you will have advanced encoding options available. You can adjust the bitrate down to shrink the file or encode at half d1 to shrink your file a bit, so it will be in the allowable size window for dvd spec. Hope this helps.

ill try what u said anzimike but when i convert avi to dvd using mainconcept mpeg converter it doesnt come out as dvd files should (vobs etc)it just comes out as a file on its own.

Dvd workshop should be outputting an empty AUDIO_TS folder and VIDEO_TS folder containing vobs, ifos and bups. There will also be separate vob,ifo set for your menus. I believe dvd workshop incorporates mainconcept encoding engine. It will probably give you a higher quality "shrink" than dvd shrink especially using advanced encoding options, so I would personally output your file in final burnable size, less than 4.37 mb. You will probably be ok with 4400 bit rate.(https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm}Good luck

BTW there is an online manual for dvd workshop on thier website. check this out if you don't already have it. ftp://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Manual/workshop2/dws2_manual.zip

any help please am still stuck with the same problem

It seems just too big. Try re-encoding your video(s) into smaller files first.

Is there any reason why you don't want to use DVD Workshop to fit it on the DVD? It is a high end authoring tool and that is one of it's features
Uncheck "Do not convert compliant files" and it will give you the amount of space required on the disc for whatever template your using. If it's too big adjust the template or create a custom one. Make sure you use AC3 audio to further reduce file size and maintain DVD compliance
To maintain the highest quality edit your AVI's in your editor and save them as AVI's with the same video settings as the original. Import into Workshop and have it encode them to fit on disc, . The less processing it goes through the better.
Edit: This info pertains to DVD Workshop 2, not sure if 1 is the same.
