I have a Sony TRV890 which I use to take home movie, I am using pinnacle to transfer using firewire and the AVI file created is perfect.
This is when things start to go wrong I have used several programs and codec's to convert the file to MPG with the same result.
Any part of the film that is to bright (but acceptable in the AVI file) is 2 or 3 times worse in the MPG file created, nothing I do changes the washed out look produced by the conversion.
Also if I use avipreview or windows media player the mpg file looks fine, but in powerDVD or in my DVD player no go.
I have spent a month trying to solve this issue with no luck. until 2 days ago, when don't ask me why but desperation made me change the file extension of the washed out MPG file to AVI and would you believe it, solves the problem the video is as bright as the original film. WHY.
My problem now is my DVD player wont recognise the avi extension so its not ideal, but I'm hoping someone out there can help me resolve this issue
Thanks in advance
