I think it can.. I always scan with ad aware and kill ALL uneeded processes even svchost which is home to tcp/ip. I make sure my system is pure and It helps a great deal.. now my sister in law recently most of her dvd's are bad because she never checked them and was surfing the net , downloading shit, and typing also.. I felt like smackin her. lol Point is I have seen so many people post on here as to how they have had bad burns, but are posting the wrong info.. it would help if we all knew your system was tweaked and pure of evil process's also imapi is another evil one. So I think it is time people fess up as to why they fucked up their own disks and blamed something else. lol

  2. I'm always multitasking during recording, I have yet to encounter any problems. Then again, I do have 6 hard drives on my system.

If she's doing all of that off the same drive, I could see a problem.

I've never turned anything off, no problems when burning or encoding related to running processes. If you have a fast processor and enough fast memory, you shouldn't have problems.

To get back to your original question, sure, some spyware/trojans could screw up your burns or encodes just the same as they can screw up your computer.

This would more likely happen during an encode when your CPU and memory is maxing out than during a burn.

    You should run antivirus/antispyware/antitrojan programs.

I agree with you completely. I am one of the few people who turn off all background programs and step away from their computers when I burn a DVDR or CDR. I also check my computer for spyware and viruses beforehand. My computer is pretty slow though so this might be less useful for somebody with an Athlon 64 system.

I used to burn CDRs while using the computer and I believe that has caused bad burns.

  6. Well thats a new way of looking at it i guess...
Killing svchost on my system (Xp Pro) results in system shutting down and rebooting.....
Run 2 systems for burning one of which is for burning alone (low spec duron 750), the other (XP2400) is used for all sorts of other stuff while burning and neither has problems burning.
    Not bothered by small problems...

If your computer is clean, you can multitask simple things (we're talking MS Office and e-mail here, not 3dsmax, Photoshop or CAD).

I usually am on this board simply because the burner is busy.
