  1. I have been lurking here for awhile and had come up with what I thought was a good combination, based on products talked about here.

What I want to do is record off of television, edit out commercials, and burn to DVD. Sounds simple enough.

So I record with PowerVCRII, edit and join with Video Redo, convert with WinAVI, and burn with Nero.

But after a few minutes, the audio is out of sync. If I push "stop" on the dvd player and then "start" again, it will be in sync and then slip out after a few more minutes.

What do I do/use to make a good, in-sync recording that I can play back on my DVD player?

    Thanks,
    Tam

  2. Does this happen when you play the file on your pc

  3. Nope, not on the PC (didn't realize this until you asked).

  4. It is obviously your dvd player, try it on a friends, try burning at a slower speed, try different media.

What format are you capturing and editing in?

I've never had audio sync problems when I capture and edit with the file in DV-AVI format. But if I edit a file that is alreading the MPEG-2 format, I sometimes get sync issues.

I don't know if that is your issue but it has happened to me.

But from your ability to stop the player and the audio is straightened out again, it seems as hardcoreruss said, player related. Could also be that your player just doesn't like that media all that well.

  6. Are you sure at each step of conversion / editing that the audio issues are not prevelent?

Next build, check each file for this problem... download a few other apps. I've been quite happy with Womple Video Wizard for Joins / Transitions. If compiant MPEG's Nero shouldn't touch 'em.

  7. I do not think he has ANYTHING wrong with his final product. It is his player. No variety of rediting is going to make it work on his dvd player when it already works on his pc.

I think he needs to vary how he is burning e.g speed/media and burning program

  8. Well let's see....first I'm a SHE. I think there is some sort of discrepancy between the player and the data on disc, or the disc itself -- but we have SEVEN DVD players in our house so I'll check out the others later when I'm not busy.

Yes, I am capturing at MPEG-2 which appears to be the best quality I can get the card to give me and that's not all that great.

  9. Excuse me, rare to get a lady round here. Before you start playing round with creating a new copy try it on a different player. I would be very suprised if they all had the same problem.

Post back and let us know how you get on.

Hmmmmm.....a honey in the mix ...have you found the OT forum yet????

ANYWAY.....If the audio is good to go on the PC, and it catches up when you pause or stop the player, then I don't think your process has much to do with it. My first guess would be that your player just doen't like that media.

Not saying your media is bad but sometimes certain players just don't like certain media.

Like Russ said, I wouldn't make another copy, I would test it in different players and see. Could just be a bad burn of some sort. But I think it's a media/player compatibility issue.

  11. A "honey"? ROFLMAO. Okay - love all the signatures, especially like the "post count" thingie; I run a web board for women and I think I will "tweak" that one a little for use over there!!

Having said all that -- it worked FINE in another DVD player, so that is that. Can't be the media (assuming that means the actual discs) because cloned movies work fine, must be some data thing.

Thanks!! I was going to toss all the ones I'd made recently!!
