  1. I have been using the above for quite some time. I purchased it as an external USB. It took about an hour to burn a DVD.

Recently I had a virus, etc. and my system was screwed up. I reinstalled Windows XP. Then I started having problems with this drive.

I had purchased 100 DVDs from MeritLine, the place where I bought the drive. The discs were certified to run with my drive. Better than 50 were messed up.

I used Nero and Cheetah to burn the discs. I would get an NT I/O error, or a disc changed, or SCSI error.

I was ready to buy a new drive. Then I had a brainstorm.

I checked the 'Net for specs and found out it is ORIGINALLY an IDE drive.
So, I took the case off, and installed the drive internally.

Works like a charm. DVDs burn in under 20 minutes.
