I successfully burn PAL SVCD on CD-RW (Yamaha 650MB, 10x) using Nero 5.5 and Ricoh MP7200A (20x/10x/40x). The media plays fine on PC (WindDVD) and standalone DVD players. But when I try to erase the discs with the same burner and Nero, using both QUICK and FULL ERASE, it always end up with the message: FAIL TO RECOVER TOC. The burner's indicator light then keeps on blinking forever. The resulting discs are "literally erased" - no drive can recognize them any more, be it PC or DVD player. It sadly means that they cannot be used again.
Upon inspection, the discs erased with QUICK still show the burnt area, while the discs erased with FULL do look brand new. I also try burning with or without the "FINALIZE" option, but the subsequent erasing processed give the same result. Is it the Ricoh burner, Nero 5.5, or me that is screwing up the apparently simple task?
BTW, the Ricoh burner has never failed in burning CDR (Imation) or CD-RW (Yamaha)at full speed.

i had this problem with crap 'Laser' brand cdrws. they cost only 50% more than cdrs, but they're junk.
u could try reducing the erasure speed too.
i wish there was some way to recover cdrws that are good, but the toc was not recovered (e.g. power failure). anyone know a burner that does this?
