I had to take the floor camera and get some pics today. We're having a typical Albuquerque late spring day ....no clouds, unlimited visibility, high of 91 (32.7C). Nice and dry with no wind![]()
Pics were taken with a Nikon D1x w/17-35 zoom.
This is looking northeast from my office window. Those are the Sandia Mountains - the farthest south mountains in the Rocky Mountain range. Elevation of Sandia Crest is 10,768 feet (3282 meters). The elevation of Albuquerque where my office building sits is 5,600 feet (1707 meters).
This is looking north over the tech area and Albuquerque's NE heights in the distance.
This is looking southwest over the tech area and Kirtland Air Force Base's test facilities. That arch in the distance (just R. of center) is the EMP simulator which tests aircraft during simulated nuclear blasts.
This is looking south. Those are the Manzano Mountains on the left. The barren-looking areas in the distance are our remote areas and include rocket sled tracks, several nuclear reactors for radiation testing, several particle accelerators, explosives test facilities, the solar power facility, and a ground-based laser that can knock out orbiting satellites.
These pics are taken from the east (foothills) area of Kirtland. Just to the west is the international airport and the main Air Force facilities. At any given time there are 30,000 Air Force, civilian, Navy and Army workers on base. Kirtland is also headquarters for the U. S. Department of Energy's operations.
Post pics of the outside of where you work![]()

And where is the spare key kept, what are the alarm codes and could you post the guard rosters?
Just interested, it's not like I'm a terrorist or anything...... -

Well the place I work part time for is rather boring and I can't find any pics on the net so I'll post my other "workplace" seeing I am supposedly a full time student.

I'll go down and take a picture now, since I don't have one handy.
Until then, here's the official web site with a crappy picture on it:

EDIT - Took the pictures, nice warm sunny day too!
This is the building 4 South, which is the Biology & Biochemistry labs. I spend a lot of my time here studying or performing experiments/tasks for my course. It's a damn good looking place, in my opinion. The rest of the campus is equally as green and nice.
These are some of the greenhouses just outside of 4 South. They're all alarmed and watched by CCTV because they belong to pathology and virology etc. so you really wouldn't want to mess with what's in there.
That's where I "work", if you class study as work. I could post up a picture of a pub, or Sainsbury's but you've all seen that before.

Just noticed this from the pics I posted:
My Dream Job!!!
Zooming in on the rooftop shows a guy under a little tent he put up for shade. It looks like he's either reading or dozing. My kinda job
Actually, he's an escort. Nobody gets into the tech area without either a security clearance or an escort with a radio. This guy's job is to sit and watch - in this case - roofers, working all day. All he needs is a cooler full of beer and he has the perfect job
@Cobra - Look at all that green stuff where you work 8) . I miss that living in the desert -

I would take some "out my window" pics of my work place but you've all seen a high school campus and besides that we are out of school May 28th...so for June, July, and August the out door pics of my workplace look like everyone else's yard, golf courses, beaches, lakes, ball parks or anywhere else I decide to be for 90 days, and the only thing I will be working on is emptying that damn cooler full of beer...I may even float around in a boat and pretend to fish for a few weeks in there somewhere.

Now is the fun stuff. This bar is huge (called Rusty's). They have a bar outback, a pool hall and bar to the left and a smoke free bar to the right.
My favorite bar... or what's now in its place. Rest in peace, dear friend.
