Philips DVP 642 Play DivX on DVD+RW/-RW?

I don't think I've specifically seen anyone specifically indicate whether or not the Philips DVP 642 will play DivX/Xvid/Mpeg4 on the rewritable DVD formats (DVD+RW and DVD-RW)? It would be nice to load a few different movies onto one disk and update the disk whem the movies are outdated (or suck).

I have owned this unit for a few months and YES. You can put multiple avi files on rewritable dvd's and play each and everyone of them. Although the unit does seem to have problems with older divx 3 files on any medium

thanks coyote... have you also confirmed mp3 audio playback on DVD rewritable media using subfolders. It would be nice to pop my whole mp3 collection on one disk and turn the DVP642 into a jukebox of sorts?

I purchased it... It does also play MP3 on DVD+RW.
