  1. Hi, wonder if anybody can help. I have just upgraded and now have a dvd+/- burner that came with Intervideo win dvd creator. This seems a bit basic and I have found that when i burn a film that is in avi format it will shrink the picture to 4:3 instead of keeping the existing aspect ratio. Can anyone recommend a good package that will allow me to burn avi movies in original aspect ratio.

    Cheers Paul

Might want to check the settings before you burn, you should have a choice between 4:3 and 16:9. It's not really shrinking the video or changing anything but changing the information that tells your DVD player or computer software how to display the movie.

I'm assuming the original is in widescreen, if your software doesn't support widescreen most newer versions of editing/authoring software will. A lot of older consumer based apps didn't support it, of course the higher end software did. Pretty common to have that ability now though. Ulead makes a few products that support it as do others.

I was wondering if you have any problems with win dvd creator. My computer came with win dvd creator too, but whenever I would burn the dvd it would have to rerender the video and in the process the audio and video would become out of sync. Some free software that I would recommend for dvd authoring is Gui for dvd author. It makes your AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, which you can just burn to a dvd with your favorite burning software. Hope this helps.
