I was wondering, in the menu under settings for video I currently have a normal tv hooked up to my system but I decided to see what would happen if I took the setting for video off normal and put it on widescreen. The dashboard changed but when I put in a game that was done in widescreen, no change. I'm assuming I would need a widescreen tv in order for this setting to work? The game is Beyond Good and Evil and the game never fills my screen because it IS a game designed for widescreen.

    Hello,
I think the video games operate differently then 16:9 movies. You know when you put the wide mode on a normal tv the movie gets tall and stretched? I don't think the same thing happens for games.

Your right, I'm sure it's truly formatted for widescreen. Though check the box of the game and see if it says 480p or 720p (the hdtv settings, maybe it says i instead of p). That I believe indicates it's "true" widescreen. Although my brother in law has an xbox on a hdtv and says it's not 100% true hd (even with the high def cables). Go figure.
