  1. Hello,
Authoring from mpg2 to dvd. Play back is not nearly as good as the original. Some are not even watchable. Heavy picsalation and auido can be off as much as 1.5 seconds. I was told that the pc's video card is as important as processer and memory. Is this true? Using Arcsoft showbiz dvd and tepgenc with simular results.

Video cards have little to do with encoding. It is CPU intensive, but that mainly affects the speed of the encode, not the quality.

Unless the video card has a hardware encoder built-in, or is particularly slow (i.e circa 1994 slow) then it has little to no effect on the encoding. The authoring process should not affect the quality of the mpeg file, so if you are getting poor results, your mpeg file is probably at fault.

What does your mpeg file look like before authoring ?

Do you have this problem playing the authored DVD from the hard drive, or only from DVD ?

Do you have these problems playing it on the PC, the stand alone, or both ?

What media do you use ?

What was your source file ?
