  1. My recorder is coming back from where the store I bought it from sent it to be fixed today. They say they can't find anything wrong with it and that the fan shouldn't come on when the unit is off. I called JVC and told them what's going on with the unit and they tell me there is something wrong, and the fan should come on with the unit off when it reaches a certain temperature. I think the loading problem started from overheating. So now it has to be sent to California to the JVC regional service center for repair. I am going into withdrawals without a recorder, had one for 3 years now. At least I still have my Panasonic E10, but it only does RAMs. I'll keep posted on what the problem is I ever find out and if I ever get it back. BUMMMMMER

  2. HALLEELUJAH the store I bought the recorder from had another open box recorder that they swapped me for the defective one. I'm back up and running, and a happy camper. Hopefully this one will last. So I guess I'll never know what was wrong with the other one except that the fan didn't work right.

Be sure you don't have this direct in the wall. Use a good surge protector. Otherwise, you're open to this. Power grids are more stressed these days from all this equipment. We get spikes here a lot. I had to buy 4 UPS systems for different stuff here.

  5. I usa a Panamax surge protector. How good surge protectors work is debatable for me though. I was watching a movie on a projection TV connected to the Panamax when lightning flashed and right then the TV went red, so it didn't do a very good job. The next day the TV popped inside and the red went and I never had a problem with it again. Hopefully they work better for small surges than it did for lightning.
