  1. I have a img-file that is just slightly to big for a regular 4.7Gb DVD disc. I tried to use DVD Shrink, but it wouldn't accept the file.

I use Nero 6.3xx. I also tried to burn it with DVD Decrypter, but same problem there. Any suggestions?

    Thanx!

extract it with isobuster or mount it as a virtual dvd unit with daemon tools.

Mount it with Deamon tools or use Nero ImageDrive, thats what I usually do...

Extraction just takes up more disk space

  4. If it's just slightly to big, you could try overburning, you might get away with it...

Not if you delete the image file after you extract.

    Think....

  6. I extracted it with Isobuster. But DVD Shrink still won't take it. It says one of the VOB-files contains invalid data. This is odd, as my WinDVD plays the file with no noticeable problem.

Is there any other way to shrink this cursed file??

I don't know if it was clear, but I want to BURN this file on a regular DVDR disc.

Overburning doesn't seem to be an option(?)

True, but as soon as you have deletet the image you have to be carefull not to modify the files without giving it another output, would not lose our only source, would we?

You could just re-extract it from the original source, which of COURSE you still have, right?

Is that possible with dvd-r?? I know you can do it with cd-r, I've done it many times. If you try the overburn (not sure what settings you'd use?) use a rewritable so you don't get a coaster!

    Hello,

Gitreel - HOW do you overburn?? I've never attempted it - though I would use a rw myself.

These image formats are tipical found in the case of downloaded DVDs from P2P sites. Mount the image in Daemon or Alcohol 120%. Open the file so your DVD player software will play a few seconds of it. Now if you open My Computer and look for your virtual DVD drive letter, you will see the DVD movie file by name. DVD Shrink will sometimes accept it in normal disk mode Often it will NOT accept them, giving you simmilar error as you seem to be getting and you will just have to right click, hit explore and copy the entire folder set to a diferent location and hope that shrink takes it in file mode. If it still does not, then you are totally SOL.

By this time, the effort you have spent is a heck of a lot more that it is worth and I would just go out and try to obtain an original disk if it's that important to you.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  14. Thanx for all advice, but I guess this file is f***ed. DVD Shrink couldn't be fooled through Daemon either... I'll have to toss this file (WHICH OF COOOURSE WASN'T OBTAINED THROUGH P2P)

    Thank u all!

  15. once you extract the files with isobuster delete all the files except the main movie vobs and then create new ifos with ifoedit, once you do this then you will be able to shrink it.

EDIT: Better yet just mount the image with deamon then rip just the main movie vobs with dvd decrypter " just the vobs, dont rip any ifos or bups"
then create new ifos with ifoedit and you will be good to go
