    Cool

The company had a bad rep to begin with.

They took freeware tools and sold them.

No reason they shouldn't still activate it. It's not like they're profiting from giving you the code, they've already sold the software. Worst case scenario, there ARE other ways. If you pay for the software, especially from a company recommended by 321, I'd say you're entitled. If all else fails, send it back and dispute the charge. Even when they say, 'all sales final, no returns, etc etc' there's still the premise of usability.

Personally, I thought DVD X Copy sucked. I am so glad I tried it before I bought it.

  9. Their software was crap. That's why they went under. Intervideo DVD Platinum is better.

321 Studios said that if they were shut down they would release an activation code to activate all of their products.
They started off screwing the freeware guys in the begining..built the company of others work... guess thats what comes to you.
Although it does add a notch against the right to use arguements.

    Attention all vultures,

Here's a real laugh, get your official 321 promo detritus while you still can! There's a good selection of it being sold at Jambalaya right now. Apparently they got the rights to dispose of the leftovers.

Here's a sample of some of the fine collectables that are available:

Could somebody versed in the law explain why Hollywood doesn't wage war on Mr. Shrink.

Now, I'm not versed in the law or anything, but I think it's because Mr. Shrink don't charge you for it's use.

They've been screwing the masses so long, I doubt that's a concern.

Its a freeware app, like dvd decrypter. It would also be in the best interest of hollywood not to wage war on freeware applications cos, realistically, how many people know about dvd decrypter, dvd shrink etc... and just imagine the surge in the number of people who would find out about such apps.

the more public media you bring in, the more people find out, which is NOT what hollywood wants.

and because its a freeware application, hollywood and the movie studios dont stand a chance

"Hollywood" never waged war on 321 Studios either. 321 Studio's sued the MPAA, lost and then appealed, and then tried to appeal to the US Supreme Court. That costs many millions of dollars to do, and they simply ran out of money and had to file for bankruptcy.

Good point. That's exactly how I found out about Napster. When it was all over the news how can you ignore it?? (I only participated briefly and being on a dial up it was counterproductive -- I know have Itunes and Musicmatch-- I also do buy CD's).

    Kevin

P.S. Just how bad would it be if dvdshrink ended up on NBC Nightly News or other media outlets???
