  1. Hey all,
I just bought a Hauppauge PVR250 without software. I d/led drivers and basic capture software from Hauppauge's web site and captured some video from hi8 source just fine. I did notice a fuzzy line at the bottom of the capture that was not on the source. Any ideas?

My main question is that I'm having trouble finding editing software for the captured mpeg format. I tried to import the captured mpg into VirtualDub and movieMaker so that I could do some editing. Every time I tried, I got an error ' could not read this format' or some similar error. I even tried to make moviemaker to d/l updated codecs and it just gave the same error. Ideas? What's a good product to edit in? Is there any freeware or other products out there that are any good?

I don't plan to do much editing but I'd like the option. I'm wondering if I should have bought an AIW because after reading a lot of the posts, looks like mpeg format is not very editable where avi is what is expected by most editing sw.

    Ideas?

    Hello,
I've got that card. Excellent card. Have you tried the nanopeg editing software that came with it? It edits out commercials. I haven't had any problems with it.

As far as the line goes, try the tracking control on the camcorder. Even if you can't see it on the source tape adjusting it might help.

---Mpeg editing is not difficult at all. I do it quite frequently with my card captures. Tmpgenc and virtualdubmpeg2 are excellent with it.----

  3. I use both VideoReDo And Womble MPEG-VCR to cut or join my PVR-250 captures and haven't had any problems. Both programs have a free trial. Here's a link that may help you with your PVR-250 card http://www.shspvr.com/
