  1. I want to get a Pioneer DVR-108 and some RITEK 2.4x 8.5 GB DVD+R DL discs.

But I want to know, do these play in all dvd machines, like a factory cut dual layer disc. Or is there some standard to use?

Will my software that I use to burn discs be able to identfy the larger, dual layer and burn past the 4.7gb limit? I use CloneDVD2, but have Nero 6 Ultra.

    Thanks for info.

I recently purchased the lite on 832s with the Ritek discs, I only burned
1 so far using nero. My Sony DVD player, which has played everything
that I have tried, struggled, it did play it, but was choppy. I recently got
a new version of copy to dvd, but haven't tried it yet (my older version
stalled when I tried to write the disc)

A DL disc will never be the same as a factory disc as they are pressed
and you will be burning your disc. It will be the same as in that you will
have an exact copy, no compression needed with the majority of discs
    that are out there.

I haven't read any reviews on the Pioneer, so I can't help you with that
    one.

  3. I Have the Sony 700A and have burned 3 DL discs so far and the set top players I have tried played them fine, but my sisters ibook didnt play it at all, and my dads laptop showed the FBI warning and then sent the laser on a crazy adventure, in other words there was a nasty grinding sound over and over till i opend the drive.

I've I never used clonedvd2 so i cant help with that but nero works fine.

Thats only true for the case of the disc being physically different. But if you have a DL Burner with bitsetting capabilities, you can change the booktype to DVD-ROM and thus, the standalone dvd player will be fooled in thinking it is original store bought disc.
