Here's a good example... if I'm collecting episodes of the new Tick series, then I'd have episodes 1 and 2 captured right now. I checked the series line-up, and I notice that episode 1 is 101 and episode 2 is 106. Each of the rest of the episodes in the series go in order... 102, 103, 104, etc. Here's my question.
Should I group the series according to the order they come out? ie:
Disc 1 - 101, 106, 102
Disc 2 - 103, 104, 105
Or should I group them according to episode number?
Disc 1 - 101, 102, 103
Disc 2 - 104, 105, 106
I know there's not a "correct" answer to this, just wanted to get some people's opinions on this. Thanks a ton!

The problems in our world today eh?
I would go with... chronological order.

I've had enough problems with my capturing and everything else, now that everything works nicely, I'm SOOO glad this is the problems I have.
That and damned macrovision, I even tried the RF Modulator from Radio Shack and it didn't clear it up, which tells me I'm doing something wrong. Anyways, any other votes?

I'd put them on the discs in the order they were broadcast. I'd actually make SVCDs with one episode per disc, so that would make it easy. Then the question is how to organize them on the shelf.

I'm going to buy the two disc holders on EBay, so I can hold 3 episodes on a disc and 2 discs on a holder... so 6 episodes in a holder. Problem is, I have the episodes, just need to decide how I'm burning the VCDs so I can empty off my hard drive.

If there are only a total of six episodes, and ordering on your VCDs is truly a difficult question, I've got yet another suggestion. Split the episodes up between discs completely at random. Or, put all the odd episodes on one disc and the evens on the other. Whatever. Then, make a menu that includes all six episodes and include it on both discs. If the person playing the disc requests an episode that doesn't happen to be on the disc playing, you could display an image to "please insert the other disc" to let the viewer know the desired episode ain't on this disc. If you go this route, it is very important to NOT document what episodes are actually on each disc. Therefore, you force the viewer to play your little guessing game each and every time.
Just a thought.

That's an idea, except two problems:
1. I'm going to be the viewer of the discs and would hate to play the guessing game for my own VCDs.
2. There's 6 episodes now... but I'm sure there'll be more later. Besides, I could make a menu where you had to guess which disc of 20 discs the episodes were on. Choosing the wrong disc would say "Sorry, wrong disc, try again"... but that doesn't seem like much fun. -
While being a funny show, which I like, the Tick's ratings have been ABYSMAL. They have made 8 episodes, I think, but FOX will likely yank the series before they're all shown. And definitely no renewals (for FOX anyway)

mikewg,
Your best bet is to find a site (use search engines) that has EVERY episode
made and organized. Maybe they have'em in Episod # or show or something
like that. Find what looks like the best method for you, and stick to it.
Hope that helps. I did this with Star Trek Voyager - ok, I lost the site and the
whole listing that I had copied to my clipboard. Go figure. Worked for me, so
it should work for you! -
I would put them in the order according their episodes not in the order they were shown. Just looks better i think
