converting MPEG to Flash for use on web

I have NO experience with Flash. but I've been looking at some programs that allow you to convert video to flash and even have the embedded controls on the videoi. I want to convert all the videos on my website to flash,, what is the best way to go about doing this?

I have Flash MX Pro,,, yet nothing seems to work on it,, I tried to "import" my mpeg video and ti says it can't read it,,, so i converted the mpg to mov in Vegas and then i was able to open it in flash, but from there I have no clue what to do, I save it as a flash file and it's just a white screen there is no video,,, are there any guides or anything for doing this?

are there specific requirements for the type of .mpg it will import? The file i was trying to import was a regular mpg2 with layer 2 audio,,, should it have had ac-3 audio instead? I'm so lost.
