  1. The Sphere is theory of an 3D workspace. The SphereXP is an example of the theory. The environment is user-centered. It is represented by a sphere. The user is exactly in the middle of it. All objects are situated around the user. He can easily turn around and manipulate with the objects. All the objects that users are used to having on their regular desktop are now integrated in a three-dimensional environment.

    kinda cool, and free!

That would piss me off unless I had more monitors to play with. Also look for an nVidia card for that, it uses OGL like a mofo.

I don't like GUIs that hoard system resources like I'm sure that will so I won't try it. I just notices it uses OGL so the latest nVidia cards will run it better than anything else, and nVidia in general has the edge on OGL all around.

Do I dare ask what brand 5200 you have?

i use dual monitor and it only works on the primary.

it uses about 51 K of ram.

i run an ati radeon 7500. i'm pretty soure it sucks on the OGL end of things, yet the sphere runs ok.

its still in beta but its fun if you have 15 min to kill

what's the advantage to this? from the screenshots, it looks like a bunch of open windows, with some perspective aspect to it - what am I missing?

3d labs wildcat series have the edge in openGL -- by a long shot ..

though the pro series from nvidia and ati are fast catching up ...

Wildcats? Yeah if people bought them. Between the mainstream chipsets of nVidia and ATi now.
