I have a bad feeling I have a defective TBC-1000....just got it in yesterday and just now opened the box and unwrapped everything. I hooked up the output from my VHS deck to the input of the TBC and the output from the TBC to my DV deck's input and have the TV input set to receive the signal....and when i pushed play on the VHS deck, there was no picture! Just ordered this unit from the VideoGuys last week and no picture shows on the screen, but I can hear the audio just fine. The cables I used are brand new so I know those werent the problem...I connected the VCR units directly before i added the TBC and the picture showed fine. Damn I hate it when stuff does not work when it should...now im going to have to go through all the trouble in trying to return this unit to get an exchange for another one. And I was looking so forward to using this unit too

I get the impression that there is a connection problem - the fact that your wires are brand new does not prove a thing
replace the video signal cables one bij one and check

a bit unrelated to your problem: I also have a Datavideo 1000
I replaced its exterior power source by a better/stronger one because the original tends to be "borderline"

You did turn the TBC on, didn't you? I don't mean to imply anything, just always start with the obvious when troubleshooting. I know sometimes I have everything hooked up through my Sima SCC-1 and forget to turn it on -- result -- fine audio...no picture .

Yes. of course I turned the TBC on.....and the power light was on; with it off the audio wouldnt have been heard either. I may try another set of cables and see what happens, i do have some heavy duty gold plated cables. If that doesnt help then I will give Videoguys a call tomorrow.

Sorry, I didn't realize that you run the audio through the TBC-1000 also. My Sima doesn't work that way. My bad. Hope things work out for you.
