I thought these were supposed to be like some of the best...however, I just picked up a pack of 15 Maxell DVD-R and of six burns, only one has turned out so far...Am I out of it and are TYGO1s no longer top quality?

I'd say the errors do not lie with the disc. Details.
And this is not "news".Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

would be helpful to tell us what software you're using to backup your dvd movies.

I'd say that the errors do lie with the discs, that informational sites like nomorecoasters.com are not accurate and I do have a bad batch.
Before this, I'd burned more than 100 discs using the TDK 840G, ripping with Shrink and burning with Intervideo DVD Copy.
And I realize it's not as exciting news as the name of the new Star Wars movie, but don't you think users should know that TYGO1 can be problematic? Don't I have a right to ask if anyone else has problems?
Then again, if the post gets censored and shoved into a corner, people don't find out that nomorecoasters.com is inaccurate. -
Moved to media forum.

A post count of 6. Attacking me. I smell another shill.
BS post, nothing to see here people, move on.
If he'd actually read nomorecoasters, he'd have seen a paragraph where it talks about a bad spindle of TY and perfect spindles of CMC. The exceptions.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I think the problem is something besides the media. I recently finished a 100 spindle of Maxell (TYG01 media ID) and it is by far the best media I've ever used. Not a single coaster.
Maybe yours was the exception, as Lordsmurf says, but it's a bit premature to be announcing a "problem with TYG01" simply because you made a few coasters. -
id be more inclined to say that its hardware and software related.
and im leaning towards maybe an outdated firmware for the media. -
I've burned 100's of MCC and TY and not a single issue yet.
I believe that's a hardware prob that u have.Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks
Have you noticed that a slight tax increase costs you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents? -
it might help if you actually mentioned what kind of hardware your using. Ie the kind of DVD drive. I grabbed 3 25 packs of the maxell's with tyg01 media code on them from future shop last week. I'm still working through the last of my riteks, so hopefully when i get to the maxells they'll work.
I use an lg gsa-04040b burner. Its a rather picky burner as to what it'll actually burn at 4x
you might also want to try burning the discs at 2x. I had a bad spindle of riteks once, and they worked fine when i burned them at a slower speed. I know you're problem is with TY's, but it might be worth a shot. -
He said he has a tdk 840g. On doing a quick qoogle search all i see are complaints about that burner with media/software incompatibilites with progs like intervideo etc. Seems some are solved using the latest firmware so I too would suspect his is outdated.

Maxell switched to these TYG01s and now my Panny E80H won't burn them. The old Maxells as well as things like the E3 -Rs burn just fine. I guess some drives don't like them or don't have updated firmware (such is the case with the Panny DVD Recorders). They work fine in my Pioneer A05 and LG 4040B. Any ideas what other discs work well in the E80H?
