  1. The damn tmpgauthor when I goto output just makes a Video_TS Folder and Audio_TS Folder, it doesn't actually put the movie in there, and the program just closes without any error. ANyone know what is going on?

  3. Well everytime, No Matter my input, it does this. But the usualy routine is load the vcd/svcd up into tgmp author, cut the chapters, make the menus, goto output to make the dvd, and it makes the folders, but leaves them empty. The program doesn't say anyhting when I click output it just closes...

  7. well man I don't know what other info I need to give... I think it is just Gateway computers. There is nothing out of routine that I have done... Even followed the tmpgauthor guides and didn't do anything out of context.

  8. So you go to Output

You have a check in "Create Video Folders"

There is a box for the output folder - What is in that box?

at the bottom it says "Capacity of Created DVD" - What is shown there?

Now you hit "Begin Output" - Does it close immediately or does something show up in elapsed time?

If you have XP there is a log that shows crashes. Have you checked that? Some crashes look just like a program just shutting down. (You have to have XP or 2000 for Tmpgenc DVD Author to work anyway)

  9. "Create DVD Folder" .... check
    "Output Folder" .... c:\movietemp
    "Capcity of Created Dvd"... 931/4438mb
I hit begin, program closes, go to check output folder, new folders are created, but empty.

p.s. I am not sure how to check logs for crashing programs...

  10. What is your operating system?

To check the log go to:
    Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer/System

You could start by filling in your computer details.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  12. presto:

TEMPGEnc DVD Author works in 98SE also. At least it does for me.

edit: I just use it to make the folders and burn them with my Roxio program.
I believe you're right about requiring XP to do the burning.

  14. The Tmpgenc DVD Author site says you need XP or 2000 or the writing tool won't work. I thought maybe this included writing the folders to the hard drive but I guess not since that works for others on 98.

I'm about out of ideas. Here' a few straws to grasp at:

Can you get it to work on another computer?

Do you have the latest version? It's not a hack, right?

Is it the paid-for version? I would think when the demo runs out it would tell you rather than just shut down.

Did it ever work for you?

Move your output folder. Make absolutely sure you're checking the right folder for output.

Sorry for all the questions and no answers. Now I'm really curious.

  15. No I appreciate the questions.
No I can't get it to work on my Gateway laptop either.
yes the latest version, a demo.
never worked for me, I have tried many different directories.

  16. I have the exact same problem, click on begin and tmpgenc dvdauthor just closes, no error messages or warnings. Creates the audio_TS and video_TS folders but they are empty.

Same as Craig. It was working before I re-installed XP. Re-installed TDA countless times, even going into the registry to eliminate all traces.

    FOLLOW-UP:
Turns out that my (now ex) assistant put a warez copy of 1.6 on the machine, which ended up hosing both versions. Once I removed 1.6 and re-installed 1.5, everything works fine again
