  1. Hello,i have a friend who told me something very interesting.Apparently an xbox games manufacturer removed copyright rules allowing people to download this game which came in a .dat format. But he's stuck on how to copy this game which he legally downloaded onto a disk and have that disk play on his xbox. The file size is 1300 MB so could not fit onto a normal cd-r and he also doesnt know what format to put it on the disk (eg nero? mpg?)How would someone copy an xbox game onto a disk that could be played on an xbox?I don't believe my friend actually has managed to download this game but it's an interesting hypothetical question...

Just so people don't get the wrong idea i fully support copyright rules, the RIAA and the MPAA and think all pirates should be locked in jail and thier eyepatchs and parrots confiscated and i promise to live by all copyright laws until my last breath.viva la capitalism

  2. You can't talk about wares here but you can ask how to play a xbox game.

You have to compile it into xbox format. Compilers are free on the net, just search the forum for 'xbox'...

  3. Hey,thanks for the quick reply,i went to xboxscene and found it a little complicated to follow,i'm reading the beginner tutorial at the moment but let me run this by you-

If you already have the game on your PC hard drive you need to convert it to iso format using xiso under the same principle that .avi files need to be converted to .mpeg using tmpgenc. Then you can burn it onto a cd-rw and play the game on the xbox?.Does the xbox need to be modified itself to play a burned cd-rw game, i've heard the word modding a lot and don't have a clue as to what it means does it have somethign to do with chipping?if so then again what the heck is that?how do you burn onto the cd-rw anyway,do you (or can you) use nero?.thanks

Your XBox will need an emulator to play games you burn. As for burning, if the game really doesn't have copy protection Nero should do the job.

Edit: This seems to be the best emulator out at the moment, it is compatible with all versions of the XBox to date, and it will only run you about 60$.

Actually you don't need a mod chip you can just flash. but a mod chip is highly recommened. BTW a very good mod chip is about $30. a exec lite is $30 and will allow you to play "backe up games" install a 250 gig hard drive, set up an ftp, set up your xbox as a media player, etc.

Interesting... I too have a friend who comes up really strange hypothetical questions pertaining to potentially dodgy subjects. You wouldn't know him though. He lives in Canada.

  8. Flash? Naw.

TSOP (flash)= thin small outline package.

Its a lot more work than putting in a mod chip, these days they don't need soldering anyway.

It only takes about 15min to flash a TSOP/(bios) if you have the memory card with proper exploit (you can make a usb-xbox controller cable for $4 from www.llamma.com and transfer the save from your computer to your memory card) You can get a used memory card for $15 or less I got mine for $12 so the total cost is less than $16.
If you dont have the proper game to boot it up with you can borrow it or rent it)

    Open Xbox
    You solder 2 wires
Take a memory card with the appropriate game exploit save
    Load save to xbox
Start up appropriate game load the save
    Flash bios
    Load dash
    Done!

  10. You can solder it without opening it, just solder through the vents, I saw some pics of it, but better to open it.

Actually you just temporarily stick peices of metal to connect the point without soldering (*Also this only works for a Version 1.3 xbox AFAIK) but its not very easy and one little slip and you cant turn your xbox into big paperweight if dont have a 29 wire mod to fix it (or other mod to bypass the tsop)

You can use a pencil or conductive ink to join the points also but soldering it takes less than 2mins and its pretty easy to do if you know how to solder

Also forgot to add they have the UDE exploit which requires no soldering it deals with fonts doesnt replace the bios and you can use xbox live since this exploit can easily be removed or added when necessary with a memory card

Anyone that wants to do this needs to go to www.xbox-scene.com for the info
