  1. I just purchaced a new dvd player it was only a cheap one
    brand name is Cobolt.
Problem is it will not play my backups occasionally it will play one
then next time i try it cannot detect the disk.
It is supposed to play dvd vcd cd mp3
Iv'e looked to see if there is any hacks for the system but i couldn't find anyting the brand Cobolt.
Iv'e got 3 different brand of blanks disks i've used all will play on occasions so i don't think it's the blanks.
    Any suggestions appreaciated.
    Thanks..

It's called "you bought a cheap no-name DVD player".

Sorry, but the reflectivity of burnt discs is not as great as that of pressed discs, therefore the ultra-cheap laser/lens in your Cobalt player will not play them.

    Nothing to be done, man.

    Hello,
Here's a tip, look for dvd- or +r compatibility on the box if you trade it in. Newer models SHOULD explicitly state whether or not they support a certain dvd recordable format. Probably should have asked that before you bought it, oh well that's a learning curve a lot of us go through.

  5. I have an expensive dvd player
in my lounge room JNL brand and two cheap brands in the bedrooms
an XMS and a Diamond the two cheaper ones never miss a beat but my JNL plays up quit often as if the laser is to sensitive and picks up on the smallest error and then chucks a fit. So as you see out of the three i have the most expensive one is the most tempremental. thats why i went for a cheap one.
Anyway i took it back and got a full refund.
but still thanks for the replys recieved much appreaciated Thanks

Well, even just a couple years ago, the more expensive ones WERE the more temperamental ones. Especially some of the BIG brands like Sony!

    Nowadays, it's just the opposite.
