I've seen people say they have burned at 8x onto 4x media, is that common with most newer drives that have updated firmware?

We have update the firmware to the hacked one ,(for pioneer's)
good 1x to 2x
2x to 4x and 4x to 8x ,not all disc's can burn faster than they state!! -
best way to burn at 8x is to use 8x writer (pioneer 107 for £55) and 8X DVD-R for 49p
