    the title pretty much says it all. is there any sort of utility to repair a WMV 9 HD file?

    i was able to the video in vrtualdub with no errors. i think the issue maybe with media player,it has been acting goofy recently, so is there any video player that will play WMV 9 HD?

    nope, did not work. i get the same message. its the usual generic WMP system error. same as with the new WMP.

    Hmm. try media player classic. if all else fails can you use Vdub to output it to something viewable?

    Did you download the file (guessing so if it's ended up corrupted) or is it from a disc?

    i downloaded it (I own a copy on dvd). But if i run it through VD i won't get the same qulity will I? It's 720p and the whole reason I downloaded it, was because I want to try out my new HD TV.

    The WMP Classic plays it fine. Thanks for your help. I wonder why WMP9 won't play it.

    probably some kind of DRM issue, or Microsoft just don't want you to watch it today...

    Try the VLC Player,it seems to play everything.

  10. You do have WMP9, don't you?

    If so, it should play.

    WMV9 is an MPEG-4 variant, afaik.
