  1. DVD Movie TO DVD~R
U will need the following software in order to do this:
    Smart Ripper V2.25 or Higher
A Least 5GB Free Hard Drive Space
    IfoEdit V0.4
    Vob Instant CD/DVD Burning Software
DVD Rom Drive (region free if u r backing up region 1 & 2 etc)
DVD movie single layer (u can’t copy Dual Layer Disc’s)

    Step one

Open Smart ripper with DVD in the drive
Under settings click on files/ backup, Select demacro & unlock drive deselect region free cos it don’t work!
    Select tab BACKUP
Ensure the require disk space is under 4.5GB
Select the destination for the rip (i.e. C:/DVD rips/mummy)
    Rip DVD to HD.

U should now have a folder containing your rip; in this folder u will find all the files require for your backup.

    Step two

    Open Ifoedit

Open the main IFO file (VIDEO_TS.IFO), which contains info about region.
Look for “VMGM_MAT” click on this & look for “VMG Category, Regional Code Mask”

Double click this and enter 0 (zero***this makes the disk region free)

Exit ifoedit saving changes it may also ask u if u want to add the change to a “BUP” file click “YES”

    Step three

Open VOB instant CD|DVD select instant disc.
Now select a the project “DATA DISK UDF”
Select setting to write a DVD_R 4,7GB disc.
Insert a disc label if u want.
Check MicoShit (sorry soft) Joliet standard.
Check include UDF version 1.02 **** very important this is the version DVD desktop players use.
    Click Next…

Now drag & drop Only the Video_ts folder in to the project window.
Ensure this because if u also include the DVD rip folder your player will not play the disc.

Then write the disk, 30 mins later u will have your backup REGION/MACRO FREE DVD MOVIE

  2. Dude I hate to burst your bubble or rain on your parade...but this is not new news (in fact a link with pictures was posted a few days ago)....also the BIGGER problem is that what about the movies OVER 4.7 GB, then what!?

  3. simply extract the main ifo & movie files(from a single layer disc)(dual layer will require re-encoding). If they r under 4.5gb just follow step 2 & 3 to create your disc. u will now have a dvd backup of the movie only without the extra's.

if it's over 4.5gb then u will have to encode the movie files to the size/bitrate required (same as dual layer) and create your own dvd by using DVDIT! or any other dvd authoring software.

Example of dual layer re-encoded movie

Mummy Returns region 1 Dual Layer
movie size 5.4gb includes ifo file.
rencoded using TMPGEnc 12A(MPEG 2 does not expire after 30 days)
    Manual VBR set at 4000kbp
and other setting required for dvd standard
    output file 3.2gb
use DVDIT P.E to make menu's & chapter points
    final output 4.45gb dvd movie.

there always seem to be someone who will question this!!
just put it in motion & see for yourself. i've never had a problem backing up both single layer, dual layer, silver disc's

  4. And again, this isn't big news. Also try using TMPGEnc 2.01, there are ways around the 30 day and it produces better MPEG-2 quality. The time it takes to re-encode the movie and the chance of a coaster is not really worth it. DVD-R = 4 bucks (lowest) DVD Movie with case and print outs 8 - 30 bucks. DVD-R drives that are limited to 4.7gig discs = 500 bucks. Also to re-encode the movie you are looking at 6-8 hours. Then you have to worry about if your player can play the DVD-R. I don't see why you are trying to push your pirating views and making yourself seem like you just invented this and need to tell everyone.

But if you really feel like it, I have a medal for you.

  5. I THINK (NOT TESTED YET)IF A MOVIE IS BIGGER THAN 4.5 Gb YOU CAN DEMULTIPLEX THE MOVIE AND THEN MULTIPLEX IT AGAIN WITHOUT UNDESIRED AUDIO STREAMS. (IE: YOU CAN USE ONLY DOLBY 2 CH SURROUND AND DELETE DOLBY 5.1 AUDIO STREAM AND YOUR MOVIE FILE WILL BE SMALLER) BUT MY QUESTION IS: "WHAT HAPPEN WITH IFO STRUCTURE?"
WITH THIS METHOD (IF IT REALLY WORK)YOU DON'T NEED TO REENCODE THE VIDEO FILE...

  6. he just got a dvd burner and wanted to show off by posting some old old old news....why not just wait for a dvd burner that supports dual layer so u dont have to do all that bullshit?...if ur gonna shell out all that money the least it could be is able to burn all formats of dvd disks.....but then this is why nearly nobody even bothers with this bullshit....if ur gonna bother re-encoding a whole dvd u may as well just make it a high bitrate svcd and save urself the money on the dvd-r...anyways...all of you are morons...hope you all burn in helll =)

  7. If anyone is bored or has time on their hands like "moi" you can see this method Ive devise to for those disk over 4.7 GB, and still retaining all the extras & stuff.
