    Well, I got a service manual today in hopes of figuring out what I would have to do in order to upgrade the 80gb hdd in this unit, but things are not looking good.

    The service manual refers to a "service remote" that I have found through Pioneer but am unable to purchase since I am not an authorized Pioneer service center

    Even if I was able to get the remote, there is no guarantee that I would be successful in upgrading the drive, but I'm on a personal quest now!

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

    Update...

    I found a local place yesterday that I was able to order the service remote from. It should be here in a week or so.

    Will keep everyone posted.

    Nice try....

    I ordered from them and after a couple of weeks I started to wonder why the remote had not come yet so I called them.

    They told me they could not order it for me because I am not an authorized Pioneer service center.
