hi major
congratulations on the new build! (and thank-you.)
Here's my little problem: All the movies I want to convert from XviD to mpeg-2 have subtitles. This would be fine, but I've never gotten an m2v that wasn't choppy when encoding with mplayer! Quicktime works beautifully (but resizing after QT hardsubbing looks bad) and for some reason I can do it with PAL XviDs also. It's not a pulldown or framerate issue, as far as I can tell, either.
Hope you can give me a hand!
Thanks again,
lokust.

If you can post me a link to download 10-second samples, I can try to figure it out. My email is major4@mac.com.

unfortunately, i can't do this. just setting up my website now, and not too eager to tangle with a FWP. any suggestions? (besides 'wait until next week when you have server space.')(although i can wait, if i have to.)
furthermore, i should mention that the files play perfectly well in VLC and mplayer. But when I try to play them in Apple DVDPlayer (to get an idea of how they'll play on my standalone player). THAT's when I have the problem.
thanks,
L
