Both my TV (JVC 28" widescreen) and DVD Player (Pioneer DV343) are NTSC compatible. What I want ask is... If I watch a region 1 movie on these, am i seeing and hearing what the American/Canadian guy experiences. Have compromises been made in the hardware to make it NTSC compatible?

i dont think your tv is REAL NTSC. more like a PAL 60 version of it.
60hz speed,with PAL picture.
youll always get the better picture quality,better than what would be watched in the US.
my LG plays in ntsc mode,and sort of jerks every few seconds of play,slightly not very noticible,more so on panning of landscapes.
the only player i had that played very well was my old samsung 709 with its quasi pal setting.
as for tvs,my old sony kv32xx used to play REAL NTSC,but only through the composites/svhs on the front,and the picture quality was utter shite.
NTSC=Never The Same Colour.
PAL is always better,and PAL 60 through an RGB scart is superior to anything that the US market can view.NTSC speed,higher Qpicture.
