  1. All,

I am having trouble burning a compliant dvd once ripped. Having deleted several unrequired vobs (extras etc) to maximise picture quality, I have absolutely no problems with playback in my cheap Ronin player (which plays everyhting under the sun) and on my PC DVDROM & Writer however I am unable to playback on my Pioneer, Philips recorder or my friends Philips, Panasonic and Pioneer players either.

RecordNow Max instantly refuses to burn the compilation so I have to burn with DVD Decrypter. DVD2One also errors when it gets to the first vob that is missing saying "vts_07_0.vob not present" which kills the process. It seems that the reason for the problem is due to my removal of the un-needed vob files and therefore there is a host of .ifo and .bup files are in the compilation with no .vob files are associated to them anymore.

Deleting the .ifo & .bup files with no associated vob makes no difference... There are obviously references to them in the other ifos/bups that make up the disc.

Does anyone know how you can get around this problem?

    Cheers,

    Boz

  2. You can't just delete VOB files to get rid of stuff. You may be lucky and it may work if the player doesn't need to access that particular VTS before playing what you select from the menu, but you're messing with the structure and obviously all tools (and some players) that check the structure will complain.

There are many tools which will replace the stuff you don't want with short dummy videos rather than delete the VOBs: VobBlanker, CloneDVD, DVDRemake...
